The winner, John Van Eaton of Kentucky, received a $250 cash prize for his submission, \"JHVEDark Haunted Screams.\" The online entry was selected by UrbanChillers viewers.
\"Comic-Con 2008 is the perfect venue to announce the first winner of UrbanChillers\' Scream contest,\" said Pyxix CEO Amit Tripathi. \"Both Comic-Con and UrbanChillers have great crossover appeal for fans of both science fiction fantasy and horror. UrbanChillers is continuing to accept mobile video submissions as part of its \"Summer of Screams,\" with cash prizes for the top vote-getters. Contestants are invited to submit their tale of terror, which must include their best scream, via their computers or mobile device - cell phone, digital camera or PDA. Entries should be no longer than two minutes in length.
Prize winners, whom are chosen by an online audience, will be recognized at a Hollywood gala this December. Contestants are encouraged to enter as often as they like, but will be eligible to win just once.
Visitors to UrbanChillers.com are asked to judge entries just as they would any other short film. UrbanChillers viewers will be able to judge the mobile scene by production value, performance, location, lighting, drama and humor.
The Scream is part of the broader PyxWorld/2008 program, a year-long series of competitions and events that will include face-to-face networking opportunities for artists and audience, knowledge sharing seminars and webinars, and local gatherings on three continents. Details of the events will be posted on Pyxix.net and on each of the four broadband entertainment channels, and will be e-mailed to members. Membership is free.
